Introduction of my ISP

     My ISP is a combination of an installation and a video(both aimed to show the analogues of 'Steps') And my theme is 'Step in and Step out'. I made this artwork to show that in our life, when we stepped out of a situation, we stepped into another.

My video: Step in & Step out (earphones are required)

    In the video, I found a friend to dance with me to match with the form of 'Step'. As you can see above,  the screen is divided into two parts. One of the dancer danced contemporary dance in a quiet dark environment, the other one danced popping in a crowded noisy environment. They stepped into the other's space while stepped out of their own spaced. In the end, they disappeared, and that was the time for the audience to step in. In addition, the music are divided into two tracks. That's why earphone are required. You can feel the music is also stepping in and out through your right and left ears.

    

         For my installation, it is an obvious and visible explanation of my video and concept. 

  The box is closed at the beginning. However, audience will be led by the shoes and the big sign to step into the box.

    After stepped in, audience need to travel along the 'road' and reach the destination, the video. There is two 'roads'. One is up side down, within the black and white background(which is used to define the different situations in our lives). The other is left-to-right, within two shoes(which is playing with the inner and outer spaces of the box).

  I made the box openable so that the audience can have more interactivity with my work instead of standing still to watch the video. What's more, when they open the box, it is a moving process of 'stepping in'.

Preparation for Analogue (OPD2)

My main idea didn't changed: an installation combined with a video.

What will the video about? Since my theme will talk about STEPS. I'd like to include experimental cinema in my work. I am now doing my own choreography these days. I am thinking about to design a contemporary dance to add into the video to match the theme of STEPS.The video is shorter than 8 minutes.

And I got my idea from Pina.

As for the installation. I want it to have the function of supplementary, so that the audience can understand the video better. The installation is a 3D photography, talking about STEPS. I may use a little bit of the outer space of the box.

I may use the ipad to show the video in the middle of the installation.The installation will expand to different directions.

Preparation for Analogue (OPD1)

Part 1: research
  In order to get some inspiration, I went to the Shanghai Biennale. And there was one artwork that innovated me. It was an installation which aims to express the theme of ‘Nature’.The artist combined the video and the installation together. There was a ipad showing natural landscape in a pile of straw. I was impressed by it.

Part 2: project proposal
  I am thinking about deriving idea from what I have seen in the Shanghai Biennale to create a combination of video and installation on the theme of ‘steps’. The installation may have the structure of staircase. But each step has its own meaning. I'd like to express the different feelings when people stepping into different spaces. So that, I am thinking about using the steps to represent a various world and using the video to evolve people's emotions.
